The Movie.
Accompanied by his eleven best friends, Darius Weems, a fifteen-year-old living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), leaves home for the first time in his life. The rowdy crew sets a course for California where they hope to convince MTV to customize Darius's wheelchair on the hit show, Pimp My Ride. Darius Goes West been enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people of all ages all around the world.
The Movement
Darius Goes West is more than a film. The continuing story of Darius, his crew, and the tens of thousands of supporters they have met in their travels can be experienced on this website. This site is continually updated with short videos, blog posts, and innovative initiatives that aim to affect a cure for DMD.

this is alanna jones. you are coming to my school in 5 days. i can’t wait !!!!!! today we had a hat day and guess how much money we raised $ 350.00 . i am apart of the goslabi team and we are the ones that did all of this to get you here . i don’t know if you know this but we get to have dinner with you and the crew. cool right . and everybody can’t wait to see you. i was in the class that e-mailed you a lot it was miss.dardaris’s class . can’t wait to see you on wednesday.

my name is Abbey, some of you know me. I am a seventh grader at JDMS. I am in the picture with Colin. I just want you to know who is who. From the left is my bestest buddy Tessa, then there is Colin, then me. In the back Brad jumped in. I am totally buying a T Shirt. I like the one that says ” That ain’t no Cuba” hahaha lol!!! I was so cool to have you at my school. I heard that New York raised more money and bought more DVD’s that Georgia. Is that true??????? I hope to see you later.

Hey Darius and Crew,
I’m a senior at Kellis the school you guys will be at tomorrow night. I’m actually in Mr. Lahmans communications classes and we all cannot wait to meet you. We shared many of your laughs, tears, and moments were we all sat in aw at how amazing you are… the part that got us all was when you got to go into the ocean for the very first time and also when you got your new chair… many of my classmates were extremely mad that MTV wouldnt pimp out a wheel chair for someone as special as you. Thank you so much for making this documentary and changing my life as well as many students on campus.
