Tips & Cue Questions for Writing Your Oprah Letter

DGW supporters! More than one Oprah Producer has recently become interested in DGW. They are giving each of you, the supporters, 1,000 characters to convince the rest of the Oprah staff that DGW is a worthy story. This is our chance!

To have the most impact, we need these letters to all hit the Oprah Office over a two week period (Now- March 7th).

So…..
1. Make it short, sweet, and heartfelt.
2. Include a video link if you’d like, even the whole film (see links at the bottom of the page)
3. SEND THE LETTER BEFORE MARCH 7th (please do your best to meet this deadline)
4. Email us a copy of the letter! Pleeease???

Here are some cue questions meant to get your creative juices flowing:

* If you’re a student, you may want to talk about how Darius/the movie inspired you as an individual. Was it D’s positive attitude that moved you the most? His megawatt smile? Was it the film’s friendship theme? If Darius came to your school, you could talk about how excited everyone was to meet him and why. And if you were motivated to help raise money for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) research, you could talk a little about that.

* If you’re a teacher, guidance counselor, or youth group leader, you could talk about how Darius/the movie inspired your students. If you used the lesson plans that go with the movie, you could mention those as well.

* If you hosted a DGW screening, you could talk about why you did it, what inspired you to do it, and if Darius and/or the crew came to your screening, talk about what an impact that made.

* If you’re the parent, grandparent or other relative of a child with DMD, you could talk about how much Darius/DGW has done to raise awareness of DMD, how important and promising the research is right now, and/or how Darius, his crew, and thousands of supporters have brought a very unique and fun energy to the fight against this devastating disease.

* If you’re a DGW supporter, you could talk about what moved you to get involved in our cause and how DGW supporters are the most amazing people in the world!
