Help your students become “13th Crew
Members!” We hope that
watching our film has motivated and inspired your students to help
us find and fund a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the
number one genetic killer of children worldwide. This is Darius’
dream!
The good news is, medical experts agree
that a cure for this disease is possible within this decade, maybe
sooner. There is tons of promising research going on right now,
but scientists need money to keep these studies going…and
to launch new ones.
Here are a few fundraising ideas to
get your students started. Whatever they decide to do, please have
them send us write-ups and pictures, and we just may post these
on our website.
- Have a car wash.
- Hold a bake sale or sell candy at school
or out in the community.
- Organize a screening of Darius Goes West
at your school after hours. Invite the entire student body, their
parents, and members of the community. Charge admission and/or
have donation buckets ready to collect money after the film.
- Host a barbecue or pancake supper; sell
tickets in advance.
- Sell hot dogs and soda outside a local
grocery store.
- Have a colossal yard sale. Collect stuff
from everyone in your class or school.
- Convince a local business to donate something
cool (like an iPod or a PS2) and hold a raffle.
- Organize a babysitting night.
Checks for any funds raised should be made payable to “Darius Goes West” and mailed to::

Please include details about how
your students raised the money, who was involved, and any tips they/you
have for others who may want to “steal” your idea. Send
