Wood River High School, in
Hailey, Idaho, proclaimed Thursday, January 17 to be “Darius
Goes West Day.” Special services teacher Janet Dennis and her
personal growth class (called Quest) not only organized a
school-wide screening of “Darius Goes West,” they also
implemented an idea from one of our “Know About It” lesson
plans.
Using wheelchairs donated from several local organizations, a
handful of students spent an entire day testing the
accessibility of their school and learning first-hand about the
challenges people who have physical disabilities face in
day-to-day life.
After watching the movie, Wood River High School students
pitched in to help us find/fund a cure for DMD, raising over
$400 for Charley’s Fund. Know About it!
Be sure to check out the pictures in our image gallery, and feel
free to steal their idea!
