Hope all is going well. I’m writing to tell you about a film and Foundation called Darius Goes West that has affected my life.  Rather than try and explain the film and how Darius and his crew of twenty-something year olds are trying to make a difference,  I’d appreciate if instead, you checked out the preview of the film by clicking the YouTube link below. As you saw in the clip, Darius Goes West won acclaim from critics as well as quite a few awards.  While the subject matter seems a bit sad on first glance, the story has all the humor you would expect from a road trip film.  In addition to laugh out loud moments at nearly every stop on the trek, the main character, Darius Weems, possesses a unique power to turn a typically tragic situation into one of absolute joy.

As I said, Darius’s story has truly affected my life.  Personal and critical reviews aside, the point of this email is to let you know that this is not only a great film, but also a great cause.  Every Darius Goes West DVD raises $17 for Darius’s disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, and the Foundation’s goal is to sell one million DVDs in one year. I want them to succeed not only because I appreciate their dedication to the cause, but because Darius’s disease is, in fact, the number one genetic killer of children in the word.
