Want to play hide and seek? DGW Geocaching!

February 04, 2010

Darius Goes West is now part of a high-tech treasure hunting game played by millions throughout the world called Geocaching (see video below).

The basic idea of Geocaching is for adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices (iphones included) to hit the great outdoors and locate hidden containers, called geocaches, and then share their experiences online. The Darius Goes West DVD is now an official “hidden treasure” of the Geocaching community!

This new awareness raising project is the brainchild of DGW supporter and Goslabi Captain, Ric White.  Ric is sixth grade teacher from Madison, Georgia, and he originally showed the DVD to his class. He has now placed DGW DVDs inside Geochaches around Georgia. As people find these containers, they use a tag found inside to go online and report their find, see where the DVD has already traveled, and check out some additional info about DGW.

“The goal is for these DVDs to travel gradually all the way to the West Coast, and then make their way back to Athens, just as Darius and the crew did…along the way educating people about DGW,” White says.

Ric wants to expand the the DGW geocaching program, but he needs your help. If you’re the outdoor treasure hunting/burrying type, and you’d like to hide some DGW DVDs in your area, then contact us and we’ll put you in touch with Goslabi Captain, Ric.  Ric will also send you the DVDs free of cost.

And if you find a DGW DVD out in the wild: Take a picture! Let us know! And then move it West!
