Quote of the day: “DARIUS! DARIUS! DARIUS!”–JDMS students chanting.
First, though, we ate burgers and dogs grilled by friend-of-the-cause Melissa Dardaris, aka Dardar.
Hangin’ with Dardar was a great way to kick off our Syracuse stay. We enjoyed horse shoes (team Pete-and-Amble took a close one over Mo-and-Dylan), fishing, and relaxing by the lake.
The relaxing dinner was the calm before the storm. The next day when D met up with the students of Jamesville-Dewitt Middle School, it was nuts!
While JDMS’s enthusiasm was touching, we can’t say we didn’t see it coming: through fantastic guidance from teachers like Dardar and guidance counselor Heather Meyer, JDMS students have been among Darius’s biggest supporters.
First up, Darius performed at a dance for the school’s 5th and 6th graders.
Then (after a wonderful dinner; thanks Karen Galusha!!), it was concert number two, this time for the 7th and 8th graders’ dance.
Dirt made sure to get some pics of the mayhem. We had a blast! The next day…
after a relaxing afternoon at the hot tub…
the crew set out for dinner at the Willis household. Like the JDMS gang, the Willises (and their non-profit, Two Smiles One Hope) are incredibly generous supporters and good friends of the cause. Here, Jack and Nolan play with a Darius bobblehead given to them by Barbara (and designed by Terin Izil).
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dardar, Heather, Mike, Allison, Matt, Caleb, Jack, Nolan, and everyone at JDMS. Syracuse, we love you!
