Coming Home to Cookeville

September 23, 2008

After Chattanooga, the next stop for the Darius Goes West crew was Cookeville, TN for a September 22 screening.

We have a lot of ties to Cookeville: Jason Hees is from there, and Logan and Ben Smalley lived in Cookeville briefly as kids. Plus, part of the movie takes place in Cookeville, so it was a sort of homecoming for Darius and the crew.

Before the screening, we visited Cookeville High School, which is Jason’s alma mater.

The kids were impressed, especially when they heard that Jason graduated all the way back in 1999. “That’s OLD!”

The Hees and Stearman families, who organized the event, fed us like we were all family (okay, they had a lot of support from Cookeville Regional Medical Center, who provided great food for the reception).

And Cookeville gave us a reception that matched our excitement.

Supporters sold out the Cookeville Drama Center! Special shout out to Laura Wolf for the great PR!

Here, Darius poses for a picture with a fan…

And here, crew members Andrew and John pretend they’re not tired of one another after two weeks on the road together!

The only way we maintain any semblance of sanity with this grueling schedule is through the incredible hospitality and support of people along the way. Thank you so much Gail, Kim, Judy, Dan, and Cookeville!

Happy 19th Birthday Darius!!! We finished your movie and it rocked!!! We were very excited and inspired about the awesome things you did. We have a list of questions that we are curious about…we will e-mail them later. We are also creating power point presentations about ourselves. We might even send you some slides so you can get to know our class as much as we got to know you through your movie! Thanks again and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! We hope you have a great day!

I was so privileged to get to view the screening in Cookeville last week. I had never heard of your cause but I’m so glad I had the chance to hear about it. It is absolutely amazing that your group of friends bonded so closely for one common cause. Also, happy birthday Darius!! I hope you all have an amazing time at the beach. If you all are ever near Cookeville again, I hope I can have the opportunity to attend again. Have a safe trip!!

One thing I’d really like to say is alwyas that car insurance canceling is a feared experience and if you are doing the best things as a driver you may not get one. A lot of people do obtain notice that they are officially dumped by the insurance company and many have to fight to get extra insurance after having a cancellation. Inexpensive auto insurance rates are usually hard to get after the cancellation. Understanding the main reasons for auto insurance termination can help drivers prevent getting rid of in one of the most critical privileges readily available. Thanks for the concepts shared through your blog.
