Quote of the day: “On the road again.”–Darius, as he pulled out of Athens for another adventure.
For the first stop on the Believe Tour, highlighting Darius’s raps, D and crew headed to Chapel Hill, NC. It was a warm place when we visited in 2009, and it continues to hold a special place in Darius’s heart.
Students at Guy B. Phillips Middle School made up the first audience for the Believe Tour, which will highlight Darius’s budding rap career in addition to the movie.
Teacher Jill Grimm organized fundraising efforts. Seeing the debut show on the Believe Tour was the students’ reward for a job well done.
Joining Darius on the tour is new crew member Dirt. Dirt is the rapper-producer who helped D craft the songs featured, and the two have great stage presence and chemistry.
The students really got into the performance, and we had a lot of fun.
It was a great first show of the tour, and we hope the rest of our crowds are this great. If you still haven’t listened to the new songs, click here to see what all the fuss is about.
Also in Chapel Hill, D showed a condensed version of Darius Goes West and performed his raps at the 2012 Early Childhood Inclusion Conference.
Gwen Van Ark and Shelley DeFosset brought us there. D had a blast performing for the crowd and talking about the early childhood experiences that led him to make Darius Goes West.
All in all, we couldn’t have picked a better spot to kick off the tour. Thank you, Chapel Hill!

Since we have infrequent wifi access on the road (and a tired blogger / driver!), we’ll update Facebook and Twitter much more frequently than the blog. So make sure to check those out if the blog isn’t enough for your Darius Fever!
