“Big Daddy Weems” is “So Turned Up!”

February 20, 2012

Darius Weems, aka “Big Daddy Weems,” has signed with New South Entertainment to release his first album. Bobby Stamps, head of New South, which also reps Bubba Sparxxx, watched Darius perform at this past summer’s 7th Annual Darius Goes West Weekend concert and offered him a deal shortly thereafter. Big Daddy Weems’ first album should be ready by late Spring, but no need to wait…

DOWNLOAD DARIUS ON ITUNES NOW!

An EP, entitled BELIEVE s available now for download on iTunes (if this link doesn’t take you to Darius’ EP, go to iTunes and search for Darius Weems). Consider this EP an “appetizer” of what’s to come late Spring. The EP contains three of Big Daddy’s new songs: Learn to Love, Believe, and So Turned Up. Take a listen, then leave us a comment and tell us what you think and which one is your favorite. We welcome your feedback. Also, props to our DGW graphic artist extraordinaire Allison Firor for the EP cover design and to DGW crew member Dylan Wilson for taking the cover photo.

For months, a team of pros has been working diligently behind the scenes to help showcase Darius’ talents. Shout out to Jim Hawkins, Micah Bennett and everyone at Studio 1093 in Athens, GA, for providing us with state-of-the-art equipment and top-notch talent to produce Darius’ music. We’re proud to announce that every contributor involved in this project has agreed to donate a portion of their proceeds from sales of the EP to Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) research.

Making his first album is a dream come true for Darius. “I can’t wait to get my music out there and use my songs to continue raising awareness of my disease,” he says.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN…

Darius has already begun spitting verses for all the students he’s been visiting n person and videochatting with via Skype. Feedback has been phenomenal! In fact, several schools have begged Darius to visit, so we are putting together a road trip to the Northeast in May/June, where Darius will host Q&As based on his award-winning film, Darius Goes West, as well as perform mini-concerts. If your middle/high school or college is in or on the way to the New York/New England areas, and you’d like Darius to visit your school, get in touch with us for details on how we can work together to make that happen.
